Innokite Weekend terms and conditions
These terms and conditions (the “Terms”), apply to all Participants at Innokite Events (in each case as defined below). Your attendance at an Event indicates your agreement to these Terms.
1. Definitions
In these Terms the following capitalised words and expressions have the meanings set out against them below:
- "We/Us/Our" refers to Innokite, having address at Kadijk 4, 9747AT Groningen, registered under the Chamber of Commerce number 01179037 and RUG project number 202876.
- "You/Your” refers to you, as a user of our services and attendee of our Event.
- “Participant” or “Registered participant” refers to successful applicants to the Event who have paid and/or registered for the Event in full compliance with these Terms. This does not include Researchers.
- “Researcher” refers to the attendees whose research provides the idea around which a team is built. Researchers are attached to the Event from the first official activity for Innokite Weekend—the Inspiration Pitch—in which Researchers present their idea to other participants to form teams around.
- “Innokite Weekend” refers to a three-day pitch competition and business development pressure cooker Event organised and run by Innokite, as well as the preparatory activities held in the lead up to the pressure cooker weekend. The Event runs multiple times a year, and each one has a different knowledge domain focus which is communicated in the Event marketing.
- “Preparatory activities” means any activities held in anticipation of the Innokite Weekend. They include but are not limited to the team formation and any preparatory assignments, in whatever form, communicated by us or the Researcher.
- “Content” means text, images, photos, audio, video and all other forms of data or communication.
- “Innokite content” refers to content that we create and make available/share as part of the Event.
- “Event confirmation” means our written (including digital) confirmation of your registration for a place at that Event.
- “Event dates” refer to the dates on which the Event is scheduled to take place.
- “Event venue” refers to the venue at which a physical Event is held.
- “Fee” the fee payable by you in order to attend an Event.
- “Registration details” refers to the personal data you provide when you register to attend an Event as part of the registration and payment process.
2. Eligibility
2.1 To be eligible to attend the Event as a non-Researcher Participant, you need to have an interest in entrepreneurship and innovation, and apply with the understanding that you will be working with others on an idea presented by a Researcher.
2.2 To be eligible to attend the Event as a Researcher, you need to have an innovative, research-based idea (eligible idea) related to the Event’s theme that you want to workshop, develop, and pitch.
2.3 For an idea to be eligible for the Event, it needs to be innovative: in brief, the idea needs to involve a new or significantly improved product/service that is capable of meeting a need or having a positive impact. This advancement could involve the introduction of new processes, techniques, or products; it could lower production costs, increase yield, open new markets, or fix a gap, but it needs to solve a problem.
2.4 For an idea to be eligible for the Event, it also needs to match the theme of the specific Event. A health-themed Event, for example, will not include any ideas not related to health.
2.5 To attend our Event, you must be 18 years or older and have the requisite power and authority to enter into these Terms.
3. Application and registration for events for participants
3.1 Application for Participants is only possible through the appropriate page on the Innokite website or as linked on the Founded.in website. Successful applicants will be notified of their conditional admission and will receive instructions for payment and final Registration Details. Registration is only valid once payment has been received and you have been notified.
3.2 All applications for Events are subject to availability and to acceptance by Innokite at our absolute discretion. Applicants will only be accepted to the Event if they meet the minimum admission requirements.
3.3 Application for the Event closes on the date indicated on the website. Deviations are possible if there are still places open for the Event: this is at the discretion of Innokite and will be communicated/publicly announced in due time if applicable.
3.4 Upon notification of a successful application, you must provide us with accurate and complete Registration Details. Your full Registration Details must be registered with us not less than three working days before the start of the Event. We reserve the right to exclude you from any Event if your name does not appear on our register of Participants at the start of the Event. If there are any changes to that information prior to or during the Event, it is your responsibility to inform us of any changes (e.g., email address, phone number, etc.) by contacting us using the contact information provided to you in the Event Confirmation.
3.5 Validly registering for an Event entitles you to admittance to that Event as a Participant, subject to these Terms.
3.6 It is your responsibility to inform us of any special access requirements or dietary requirements as part of your Registration Details, and in any event no later than five working days in advance of the Event. Any dietary requests made after this time may not be available.
3.7 By registering for an Event, you agree to receive certain communications (specifically, emails) in connection with the Event using the contact details you provided. If you have subscribed to them, you also will receive email newsletters about happenings in your area. We provide unsubscribe links in all of our email footers if you no longer wish to receive those communications from us.
4. Fees
4.1 Payment in full of any applicable Fees for the Event is due upon registration (i.e., once your application has been successful and you have received confirmation) and is a prerequisite for attendance at the Event. If such payment is insufficient or declined for any reason, Innokite may refuse entry to the Event.
4.2 Fees are inclusive of amounts in respect of any applicable value added tax (VAT) or similar sales tax.
4.3 Fees cover attendance at the Event and food and drink served during the Event at the Event Venue (e.g., for Innokite Weekend the Fee includes dinner on Friday, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday and Sunday). Fees do not cover travel to and from the Event Venue or hotel/boarding costs.
4.4 Fees are refundable only in the circumstances outlined in clause 6.1. Fees are only refunded in full, and not on a day-by-day basis (i.e., if you cannot attend one day of the three-day Event, you will still pay the full Fee and not be refunded for this day).
4.5 The researchers have the right to attend Innokite Weekend for free if their business idea has been chosen to work on during the Innokite Weekend. Except for the Fee, all other Terms apply to these Participants.
Attendance requirements and conditions
5.1 By agreeing to these Terms, you agree to:
- observe the rules, policies and procedures of the Event Venue including in relation to health and safety and any reasonable instructions issued by Innokite and/or the management of the Event Venue;
- behave in a respectful, professional and appropriate way that does not breach the laws or regulations of the host country or that risks bringing the Event or Innokite into disrepute;
- ensure you have adequate insurance for your own requirements, including personal accident and travel insurance, prior to attending any Event; and
- ensure you have all necessary travel documentation, including but not limited to visas and other entry permits into the country where the Event is held, and that you comply with all health formalities and any applicable laws.
5.2 You agree not to, and will not assist others to:
- violate our Content or Event Guidelines as set forth in these Terms;
- violate any third party’s rights, including any breach of confidence, copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, moral right, privacy right, right of publicity, or any other intellectual property or proprietary right;
- threaten, stalk, harm, or harass others, or promote bigotry or discrimination;
- send bulk emails, surveys, or other mass messaging, whether commercial in nature or not;
- violate any applicable law;
- record, process, or mine information about other Participants;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to computer systems or networks connected to our Services through hacking, password mining or any other means; and
- use our Services or any Site Content to transmit any computer viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses or other items of a destructive nature (collectively, “Viruses”).
5.3 Innokite is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of race, nationality, ethnic origin, social origin, religious creed, religion, age, disability, physical appearance, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, family status, source of income, political opinion, or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of Participants in any form. Participants violating these rules may be expelled from the Event without a refund at the discretion of the organisers.
5.4 Your travel to and attendance at an Event is at your own risk and not the responsibility of Innokite. Innokite is not obliged to provide any advice or assistance relating to the obtaining of visas or any other necessary travel documentation. Failure by any Participant to obtain a visa or any other necessary travel documentation to attend an Event shall not entitle them to a refund of any Fees.
5.5 Participants are not permitted to conduct business at the Event Venue. Participants observed conducting business may be ejected from the Event. Conducting business here refers to a contract of sale or any other trade related activities, but excludes recruitment for your startup, product innovation, or other business development activities.
5.6 Innokite reserves the right to recover from you any loss or damage incurred or suffered by us, the Event Venue, or any other Participants as a result of your conduct at the Event or failure to comply with these Terms. In such circumstances, a Participant shall not be entitled to a refund of any Fees.
5.7 By attending any Innokite Event, you agree that you may appear in promotional photos and videos (Innokite Content), and you authorise their use for this purpose. Additionally, if you share any photos or videos you yourself take at the Event with Innokite, you authorise us to use them for the same purpose and represent that the attendees in your photos and videos have consented. Innokite reserves the right to use images and videos recorded at the Event with your photograph and/or likeness in future marketing materials, including social media channels, websites, and print material, without obtaining any further approval from you or making any payment to you. If you do not wish your photograph to be taken at an Event please notify the photographer during the Event and we will use reasonable endeavours to comply with your request.
5.8 All attendees are required to agree to these Terms and abide by the confidentiality guidelines per clause 5.2. Refusal to agree to these Terms will result in being refused from the Event.
5.9 Innokite reserves the right to refuse entry by any Participant to an Event or to remove any Participant from an Event without any liability if they fail to abide by the Terms or for any reason and at our sole discretion.
5.10 By attending the Event, you are agreeing to comply with the team-formation processes that comprise part of the Event. You accept that you will join a team around an idea presented by a Researcher, and work on that idea for the duration of Innokite Weekend. of another idea. You are not eligible for a refund if, for any reason, you and your team do not get on, and Innokite is not responsible for team dynamics (see section 6 for refund conditions).
5.11 In registering for the Event, you agree to attend all days of the Event to the fullest. There are no trial days, and you are expected to engage with all activities of the Event. If personal circumstances prevent you from attending a portion of the day, contact us prior to the Event to discuss possible workarounds. Partial absences are not eligible for refunds.
5.12 In registering for the Event, you are agreeing to provide full and honest feedback on your experience at the close of the Event through the forms provided by us.
6. Cancellation and substitution
In this clause, “Force Majeure” means circumstances which are beyond our reasonable control and which are reasonably likely to affect the successful delivery of the Event or would make it inadvisable, impracticable, illegal, or impossible for us to host the Event or perform our obligations under these Terms.
6.1 All cancellations by Participants must be received in writing by Innokite no later than one week before the first day of the Event for a full refund of the Fee paid. We cannot accept verbal cancellations. If you cancel after this deadline or fail to meet any of the cancellation requirements, you will be liable for the full Fee.
6.2 Registered Participants may be substituted by other individuals at no extra cost so long as this substitution is requested in writing and approved by Innokite and the substituted individual’s Registration Details are provided at least three business days in advance of the Event, subject to their agreement and compliance with these Terms. Innokite is not required to accept the proposed substitution, and decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
6.3 Although Innokite’s Event programs are correct at the time of publication, we reserve the right to exchange the format, content, venue, speakers, hosts, moderators and/or timing of an Event at our discretion. In the case that there are changes to an Event, we will endeavour to notify all Participants of any such changes prior to an Event.
6.4 If, as a result of Force Majeure, Innokite cancels the Event, Innokite shall use its reasonable endeavours to either (a) reschedule the Event; or (b) switch the Event from a physical Event to an Online Event, in each case to take place within two months of the original Event Dates.
6.5 If we need to cancel or postpone an Event, we will notify Participants as soon as reasonably practicable. In the event of cancellation, we shall issue Participants with a full refund of relevant Fees paid by you. In the event of postponement, we shall offer you the option to re-register for the rescheduled Event or issue you a full refund of relevant Fees paid by you. Our liability to you as a result of any cancellation or postponement of an Event shall be limited to the amount of Fees which you have paid to us for that Event only and we shall not be liable for any additional losses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation or postponement.
6.6 Refunds shall be issued back through the same means (e.g., debit/credit card) used for payment as soon as reasonably practicable, within 30 days of the notice of cancellation.
6.7 Without prejudice to Innokite’s obligation to refund any Fees to Participants, Innokite accepts no liability and shall pay no compensation where the performance of its obligations is made impracticable, illegal or impossible by or as a result of Force Majeure.
7. Intellectual property
In this clause, “Intellectual Property Rights” refers to patents, rights to inventions, copyright and neighbouring and related rights, moral rights, trademarks and service marks, business names and domain names, goodwill and the right to sue for passing off or unfair competition, rights in designs, rights in computer software, database rights, rights to use, and protect the confidentiality of, confidential information (including know-how and trade secrets), and all other intellectual property rights, in each case whether registered or unregistered and including all applications and rights to apply for and be granted, renewals or extensions of, and rights to claim priority from, such rights.
7.1 All Intellectual Property Rights to Events and in the Content relating to Events are the property of Innokite. Participants may use the Content solely for their own personal use and benefit and not for resale, distribution or other commercial purposes.
7.2 Any request for permission to republish, reprint, or use for any other purpose any of the Content should be sent by email to the Event contact as described in your Event Confirmation.
7.3 All parties attending the Event (including the Innokite team, Event Venue staff, mentors, judges, experts, and all other attendees) are required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement in order to attend the Event. This Agreement is designed to protect the Intellectual Property Rights of Participants and is a mandatory term for attending the Event.
7.4 Innokite considers you to be the owner of the Intellectual Property Rights related to your idea as presented at the Event.
8. Data processing
In this clause, “Data Protection Laws” refers to any laws and regulations relating to the processing, privacy and use of personal data in connection with or pursuant to these Terms; “GDPR” refers to the General Data Protection Regulation, which applies to the processing of personal data wholly or partly by automated means and to the processing other than by automated means of personal data which form part of a filing system or are intended to form part of a filing system; the terms “personal data”, and “processing” shall have the meanings ascribed to them under the Data Protection Laws.
8.1 As part of applying and registering for the Event, you will share personal data with Innokite, including identity data, contact data, biographical data, payment data, and other data processed as part of administering the Event. We process this personal data to operate our Event, to provide our services, or to perform or initiate a transaction with you. We also process this data for our Business Purposes. We do not sell or “share” Personal Data collected in this context.
8.2 Innokite shall:
- comply with all applicable requirements of the Data Protection Laws; and
- process any personal data which it obtains or holds in relation to a Participant under or in relation to these Terms for the purposes of carrying out its obligations under these Terms, in accordance with its privacy notice or as otherwise permitted by Data Protection Laws.
8.3 We shall use your personal data for the purpose of providing services in relation to Events, including, but not limited to Event registration, communications, Event access, dining, administration (including before, after and during the Event), invoicing and payment, post-Event feedback, quality checks, research and polling.
8.4 In order to fulfil our obligations to you in relation to the Event, we may share relevant personal data with presenters, Event Venue management, trainers, organisers, print houses, finance partners, connected communities, faculties, Event service providers and external delivery partners. We may also share personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.
8.5 The security of your Personal Data is important to us. We take a number of organisational, technical, and physical measures designed to protect the personal data we collect, both during transmission and once we receive it. We protect your data to the fullest extent possible. In the case of a personal data breach, a relevant authority and/or you will be notified in accordance with the applicable Data Protection Laws.
8.6 All data processing will be performed in line with our Privacy Policy. In agreeing to these Terms, you are also agreeing with our Privacy Policy.
9. Prize rules
The winning team of Innokite Weekend will be awarded a monetary prize, and may also receive additional free or subsidised support at the discretion of Innokite. This clause outlines the rules for the prizes.
9.1 The members of the winning team will each receive free access for two people (‘awardees’) to the Innokite Incubate or Accelerate Tier. The awardees can either join as a team, individually, or in any other combination, agreed upon with the Head of Incubator prior to the onboarding process.
9.2 Any other combination’, for the purposes of clause 9.1 shall cover scenarios where the awardees initially join as a team but subsequently choose to split off while participating in the Innokite Incubate Tier for whatever reason and vice versa.
9.3 The determination of the allocation of the awardees to the Innokite Incubate or Accelerate Tier is done at the full discretion of Innokite, depending on several criteria, such as entrepreneurial experience, potential, or investment-readiness of the business idea. The awardees may communicate their preferences to the Innokite staff at any time after the Event and before the onboarding, however, in no case will it constitute a binding agreement.
9.4 Monetary prizes are per team, not per individual in the team. Winners will receive their monetary awards no later than two months after the Event. Prize money will be transferred to one team member, and they are then responsible for sharing it among the other members of the team — Innokite is not liable for the fair and equitable division of the prize, nor any issues arising therefrom. Innokite will contact the winners for this process.
10. Limitation of liability
Although we try to create a safe environment at Innokite Events, accidents happen. We ask that you do your part to help limit the possibility that you might get injured at our Event. You agree to carefully consider the inherent risks in any activities that you choose to take part in and to take reasonable precautions before you choose to attend or participate. For example, you should ensure that you are in good physical health before engaging in any physical activity at an Innokite Event, and you should always drink responsibly given the risks associated with drunk driving and participating in activities while your judgement is impaired. Second, please note that some of the other Event guests may be less responsible than you, and may themselves create additional risks to you despite their best intentions. In summary, you understand that your attendance and participation at Innokite Events is voluntary, and you agree to assume responsibility for any resulting injuries to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law.
You (for yourself, your heirs, personal representatives, or assigns, and anyone else who might make a claim on your behalf) hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue, Innokite and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, partners, shareholders, members, agents, employees, vendors, sponsors and volunteers from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses or expenses (including court costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees) which may arise out of, result from, or relate in any way to your attendance at any Innokite Event, except for any gross negligence or willful misconduct on our part.
You further agree to indemnify and hold Innokite, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives harmless, including costs, liabilities and legal fees, from any claim or demand made by any third party due to, related to, or connected with your attendance or conduct at any Innokite Event.
11. Amendment
We may make amendments to these Terms from time to time. Any such amendments shall be posted on the Event website. Amendments will be effective immediately on the amended Terms being posted on the Event website (unless specified otherwise) and you will be deemed to have accepted them if you attend the Event. If you do not wish to accept them, you must cancel your attendance in accordance with clause 6 of these Terms. The last amendment was made 2 May, 2025.
12. Entire agreement
These Terms together with the application or registration form (where relevant) state the entire agreement and understanding between you and Innokite relating to your attendance at the Event and supersedes all previous terms, communications and discussions whether written or oral relating to that subject matter.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands and the Dutch courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
